About Jim

Jim Tunnell was destined to help people buy homes. After growing up in a real estate family, he worked in nearly every aspect of the business, including a five-year stretch as a REALTOR®. “I even did a stint in the title business before I started originating loans in the mid-1990s.” He gained his foundational experience at major loan companies, title companies and banks, but it was round of layoffs at a major national bank that led him to his passion of finding innovative solutions to people’s home loan needs at Southwest Funding. Jim and his Team at Southwest Funding service all types of borrowers. “My expertise is in purchases. “One thing that gets me in trouble sometimes is my full disclosure!” he says. “I make sure people truly understand the exact timeline and total costs.” His openness earns him consistent referrals from REALTORS® and other partners. “My referral sources know if they send me a deal, I’ll get it done,” he says. One real estate transaction coordinator who chose him to handle her personal loan said, “I do several hundred transactions a year and when I get a contract and you are the lender on it, it is a relief!” Clients compliment him on his simple, stress-free service. “They like that they were fully informed about everything going on and they appreciated there were no surprises at closing.” After 21 years in the ever-changing business of mortgages, Jim understands the guidelines and necessary steps to take during a home purchase. “I want to make people comfortable,” he says. “It’s not just a transaction; it’s a relationship. Jim also prides himself on his accessibility. “I’m available at least from 8 am to 8 pm daily and I return calls on the weekends.” Given his broad experience, he appreciates the closeness to the borrowers he helps. “On the tittle side, I was handling a lot of paper. On the corporate side, there was a massive pipeline and little customer interaction. All of those experiences helped give me what I share with my clients now, only now I can witness what happens after closing.”
